Most tag renewals don't need a trip to the office. Whether you're in Catoosa, Claremore or anywhere else in Oklahoma, here's what to have on hand and what happens after you click Renew.
Your checklist
Keep these next to you before you start:
- VIN: it's on your registration and insurance card, and on the driver's side of the dashboard, visible through the windshield
- License plate number
- Oklahoma title number, the full number
- Current Oklahoma insurance
- The owner's driver license number, or a FEIN if a business owns the vehicle
- Payment: a credit card or checking account
Online renewal opens the month before your tag expires.
How it works
- Click any Renew Online button on our site. It takes you to Navigate, Service Oklahoma's official site, with our Catoosa office already assigned to your renewal. Start now (opens the State of Oklahoma site in a new tab).
- Enter the vehicle and owner details from your checklist.
- Pick a one-year or two-year registration. Two years adds the cost of the current year and the next year's registration, generally doubling the cost.
- Pay on the State's site. Your card or bank details go to the State only; we never see them.
What happens after you pay
Your renewal is routed to our office. We process it and work to get it in the mail the next business day. Put the new decal on your plate as soon as it arrives, and keep the registration receipt in your vehicle; Oklahoma law requires it.
If a week or two goes by and nothing has arrived, call us at (918) 379-5030. The office that processed a renewal is the one to ask about it.
When it's easier in person
Stop by or call us if:
- Your tag expired a while ago and you want to know what you owe
- You just bought the vehicle or moved it here from another state, since those need a title transfer first
- Something doesn't match, like an address or a name on the title
Boats, trailers and farm vehicles too
Navigate also renews boats, outboard motors, farm vehicles and commercial trailers. See every online service, and our tags and registration questions for more.
